Loading up the car for which Sharon had no use and the judge therefore saw fit to award to Steven, he set out to escape Manhattan and his shattered life. He wanted to get as far away as he could from his ex-wife so after crossing the George Washington Bridge he got onto Route 80 heading west and went in search of small town USA, a fantasy inspired by the likes of Bedford Falls, River City, Iowa and Mayberry RFD. Steven continued on his elusive quest until a chance decision in Nebraska led him to the town of Buford in search of gasoline for his Taurus.
