Annual Plant Reviews (Apr) Is A Series For Researchers And Postgraduates In The Plant Sciences. Each Volume In The Series Focuses On A Theme Of Topical Importance And Emphasis Is Placed On Rapid Publication. With 40 Volumes Published, Apr Has Been Built Into An Extraordinary Resource For Plant Scientists. We Are Currently Regularizing To 4 Volumes Per Year And Isi Have Recently Agreed To Evaluate Apr (For An Impact Factor). This New Apr Volume, Plant - Insect Interactions, Will Provide A Summary Of The Advances In Basic Research Achieved During Recent Years. The Volume Will Be Divided Into Three Parts. Part One Will Summarize The State Of Knowledge On The Biochemistry Of Plant - Insect Interactions, Ranging From Plant Signal Cascades And Elicitors To Plant Defense Metabolites And Their Sequestration By Insects, To Plant Volatiles And Their Perception By Insects And The Role Of Plant Surfaces, Trichomes And Nectar In Plant - Insect Interactions. These Topics Will Be Covered In Five Chapters, Each Chapter Containing References To Both Plant - Herbivore And Plant - Pollinator Interactions Whenever Applicable. Part Two Will Focus On Advances In The Genetics And Genomics Underlying Plant - Insect Interactions. Separate Chapters Will Deal With The Transcriptional And Proteomic Responses Of Plants To Herbivory, And Herbivores To Plant Defenses, As Well As Quantitative Genetics Of Plant - Defense Traits And Pollination Syndromes. Part Three Will Be Devoted To Ecological And Evolutionary Aspects Of Plant - Insect Interactions. There Will Be A Chapter Describing The Investigation Of Costs And Benefits Of Plant And Insect Traits Using Knock Out Studies. A Second Chapter Will Describe The Various Ways By Which Plants Mediate Interactions Between Insects. The Diversification Of Plants And Insects In Relation To Defense And Pollination Will Be Covered In Another Chapter. The Volumes Final Chapter Will Discuss Gaps In Our Current Knowledge And Identify Open Research Questions In The Field Of Plant - Insect Interactions
