When the ﬁrst budding writers got together in Hainault in 1986 at the Working Man's Club in Manford Way they couldn't have envisaged that the writing group as started by them would still be thriving thirty years later. At that time they called themselves 'The End of the line Worker Writers' and it was there that they published their ﬁrst stones a booklet 'Thames side Tales, ' then their ﬁrst book 'The End of the Line, ' This being the position of Hainault station on the Central line. Further down Manford Way French the Builders who built the Hainault Estate in the post war period from l945 onwards, had now ﬁnished their work and in 1990 the writers moved in to do their writing in what used to be the Builders canteen. Shortly after, a new building was being erected on the site which would become the 'Hainault Forest Community Centre', while it was going on the Writers' were shunted around into different sheds until the building was completed and they obtained a permanent place to do their writings in the Centre. It was there that their next book 'So Many Stories' was published inl992, this was followed on by: 'Gas mask on my shoulder' 1995. 'So Many More Stories' 2003. 'Memories of Hainault' 2006. 'Carousel' 2009. 'Kaleidoscope' 2014. Over the years hundreds of individuals have passed through our portals and with the comings and goings we have all ways maintained a group of at least twelve members and at present we have twelve and this at times can jump up to fourteen or more. Long may it continue? We must mention the staff of the Community Centre who over the years have given us welcome assistance and thank the present retinue of Manager Mick Willis MBE and his staff, Jill, Jean, Cliff and Dave. This latest book 'Celebration' is an attempt to break into the modem World with an E/book and our manuscript has been kindly converted into the Electronic version by Publishing push.
