Most people exist to themselves, and some have suggested that if one does not exist to oneself, then that this makes one a ghost. Some even say that this is sufficient enough to define a ghost: A ghost is someone who has forgotten that they exist. Well, if this is the case - what if you were to remind them of their own existence? That is another question ... another question indeed ... perhaps of even greater significance.' The Lady Dyf is being haunted. A ghost stalks her through her dreams. It watches her, punishes her and wears the face of a long dead lover. And in waking life, her citizens are being brutally murdered throughout the streets and parklands of the ancient City-State of Harth. In this country there are many monsters; some of whom dwell in an alternative land, to lurk just beyond reach and just beyond perception. However, all thresholds here are meant to be crossed. Hedonistic Private-Eye, Miles Flint can exist on two sides at once, as he tackles two different cases literally worlds apart that fragment his very sense of himself. And all the while, the Dre Noht are encroaching. They are the movement which threatens to topple the status quo and return all to an older order. They are those who would switch off the flow of Styx: the herbicidal gas that floods the city and keeps it free from the dense tree life that strangles the surrounding landscape ... but that also keeps it free of the older dead. Harth is a land of ghosts in every sense of that word. Much of the country gains its form as an echo of something that once was - and that is desperately struggling to be again. A world long gone here has remembered itself.
