He's Getting Away With Murder Synopsis Los Angeles Attorney Lenny Goldman didn't mean to kill his client, movie star, Selma Blane. Selma, an ex-Disney kid was having a Lindsey Lohan moment and attacked Lenny and he pushed her in self defense. Now Selma's boyfriend, rock star Eddy Marsdan, is accused of killing Selma, and Lenny has to figure out a way to represent the young man. He calls his friend District Attorney Justin Baker and asks for the Marsdan case. This has to be the first case in his successful career that he hopes to lose. A major obstacle is that Baker has assigned the case to Lenny's nemesis, Meredith Miller, one of Baker's most aggressive prosecuting attorneys. Another obstacle is Joe Gross who arrived in Lenny's office claiming he had a security tape that showed both Lenny and Eddy Marsdan arriving and leaving Selma's apartment the night of the murder. Selma had hired Joe Gross's security company because she was afraid and harassed by Jose Lopez, a mentally unstable stalker, who claimed to be having an affair with the young star. Gross demands money for the tape, but Lenny stalls, sending his girl Friday, beautiful and classy, Monica Mars, to Gross's headquarters in Encino to gather damning evidence on Gross. In Encino, Monica meets Sam West at his bar while looking for Gross and there is an instant attraction between the two. Sam wonders what's a high class dame like Monica Mars doing in his dive of a bar and Monica thinks Sam is ruggedly handsome and different from the wimpish men she usually meets. At Gross's office Monica encounters Alice Walker, a frustrated woman, who has worked for the demanding Gross for twenty years and who has not a good word to say about the man. When Alice admires Monica's expensive diamond stud earrings, Monica removes them and places them in Alice's hands. What she wants -2- in return is the surveillance tape and any negative information Alice might have on Gross. Alice sends Monica to find Mary Lou, a young girl who claimed that Gross had tried to rape her. When Monica sees pathetic little Mary Lou she feels protective. In fact, both Alice Walker and Mary Lou had been taken advantage of by Gross and Monica offers them jobs as her assistants and takes them back to Los Angeles with her, along with the prized tape. Lenny has the tape altered, removing himself, leaving Eddy Marsdan arriving at the time of Selma's death and has Alice Walker deliver the tape to Meredith Miller. Now the prosecuting attorney has evidence that could convict Eddy Marsdan and Lenny thinks he's safe. But Miller has a prosecuting attorney's nightmare, she doesn't believe Marsdan is guilty of killing Selma Blane! Next, Lenny gets an offer he can't refuse. Wealthy socialite Sara Widemann wants Lenny to represent her after she kills her husband. Lenny takes the million dollar advance and assigns Monica Mars to deal with Sara. Sara demands lessons on how to fire a gun and sets a date to murder her husband, whom she claims is a philanderer. When Monica sees the handsome and debonair Ward Widemann she is immediately smitten, falls into a sexual relationship with him and finds herself in a dilemma: the pros and cons of her feelings for the urbane Ward Widemann or the rugged Sam West? On the day of the planned murder, Sara fires point blank at unsuspecting Ward, emptying the gun, but he does not fall. Ward had charmed Monica, who had loaded Sara's gun with blanks, and saved his life. Sara has a nervous breakdown and is carted away from the Widemann's Malibu compound in an ambulance. -more?
