All kids look forward to summer vacation, those magical three months where teachers no longer have control and textbooks are free to collect dust. But for Daniel Pritchet plans of having an awesome summer have come to a screeching halt. Due to a downturn in the economy, Daniel's mom has lost her job. Now this rambunctious twelve year old city boy finds himself living with his great aunt and uncle out in the middle of nowhere. On the surface all appears normal in the quaint little house of Tilley and Walter Pritchet, but Daniel begins to notice that some things aren't quite as they seem. Hidden deep beneath his uncle's work shed, Daniel discovers a labyrinth of twists and turns leading to hundreds of wonderfully different doorways, all of which connect to the many corners of a magical world known as Anavrin. Daniel is compelled to find out what lies behind each doorway, and upon his first venture into Anavrin, Daniel quickly realizes that his discovery has landed him right in the middle of an age-old battle between good and evil. Baron VonWarmonger has returned to Anavrin and with him he has brought a devastating war machine and an evil army of little blue skinned creatures called Rascals. The baron has sworn revenge on the Pritchet family and all those in Anavrin who were once responsible for his defeat and banishment. But revenge is only half of the Baron's evil plot. He also craves the possession of a very special little key, the Master Key. It is this key that grants its owner the ability to open any locked door no matter its size or shape, and it is the same key that Daniel has innocently used to open his first doorway into Anavrin. Now, Daniel must embark on a race against time and almost insurmountable odds in order to protect himself and his family from the evil Baron VonWarmonger.
