When his step-father is murdered and his mother and sisters taken away by a cruel ruler, he is left to himself in the wilds until he is found by a famous troupe of mercenaries. Their Commander, a harsh but fair man, takes him on as a squire and he follows the troupe through their missions to put an end to the civil strife destroying the Land.
