Reseña del libro "Lemon's Hand Book of Marshall County, Kentucky: Giving its History, Advantages, etc. and Biographical Sketches of its Prominent Citizens (en Inglés)"
By: J.R. Lemon, Pub. 1894, reprinted 2021, 186 pages, New Index, soft cover, ISBN #978-1-63914-043-5.Marshall County was formed in 1842 from Calloway County. It lies in the far Western portion of the state surrounded by Calloway, Graves, McCracken, Trigg, Lyon and Livingston counties along with being a stone's throw from the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers. Due to its geography, settlers began showing up in this area around 1818, just after the Jackson Purchase of these lands from the Chickasaw Indians. The citizens of the county were sympatric to the Confederate side during the Civil War. Many of her residents belonged to the famous Kentucky Orphan Brigade. This book has many of the usual topics being discussed: early history, creation of the county, early settlements, government, churches, economics, early hangings and etc.. Over half of the book is devoted to biographical sketches of these early residents of the county.
