The monograph presents the results of studies on the peculiarities of metabolic status in prolonged neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. The most significant etiologic factors of metabolic status in neonates with prolonged neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and peculiarities of clinical and laboratory manifestations of prolonged neonatal hyperbilirubinemia depending on the level of bilirubin are described. Metabolic changes and the role of inflammatory activity in prolonged neonatal hyperbilirubinemia were evaluated. Correlative relations of clinical and metabolic changes with inflammatory markers are described. Pathogenetically justified correction of complex treatment of prolonged neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is developed and proposed.
