Ten-year old Luis Matthews is a boy with serious problems. His parents, both computer wizards, vanished from their home without trace five weeks ago while working in the United States. To make matters worse, Luis has just been diagnosed with a serious illness. Back home in the UK and confined to bed, his grandmother orders a computer to cheer him up and Luis is astounded to discover that a magical 'computer mouse' has arrived along with it! Micro Mouse (Mike), an intelligent cartoon-like character was created by Professor Kosterlitz, Luis' godfather and a scientist at CERN, the Swiss particle physics laboratory. Luis is even more astonished to discover that Mike has an incredible power... he can allow humans to enter the digital world too! Luis invites his friends Cameron and Xander to join him in his adventures in cyberspace and there they have fun meeting all sorts of amazing characters. But in the real world time is running out for Luis. Where are Luis' parents? Who has taken them and why? As he gets weaker Cameron and Xander realise that they must find them if Luis is to survive. With the help of Mike and Pixel (Prof Kosterlitz's grand-daughter), the three boys travel the Internet looking for answers in a race against time.
