No one in SoftWaters is aware of Aretha's domicile in Ravenna near Bologna. A private person, feeling jinxed against love, she devotes her time raising their child, Marcello. When her mother, Natalie, joins her four years later, Aretha engages Dr. Giancarlo Armini to treat her mother's dementia. Unexpectedly she becomes romantically entwined with him. Gannon Waters' company SoftWaters, has entered the Italian market in Bologna where he learns of Giancarlo's medical role in the hospital's software selection. Seeing his enemy strikes fear and sets off Gannon's nightmares which haunt his travels in Italy. He still harbors anger and fears mafia entanglement.
