Reseña del libro "Steamers, Saddles, and Scalpels: The Life, Times, and Legacy of E. F. Guyon (en Inglés)"
This biography examines the fascinating life of E. F. Guyon from his birth in the Deep South before the American Civil War through his upbringing during the Old West, primarily in Oregon, to his eventual embrace of the practice of medicine as his life's work. Along the way, he mined gold, worked as a cowboy, fought in the Bannock Indian War of 1878, graduated from medical school, and eventually became an authority on tubercular diseases, primarily tuberculosis, . Well-known for his medical expertise, he was summoned on several occasions by the Governor of Idaho and his beloved Independent Order of Odd Fellows to attend national and international conclaves relating to the struggle against tuberculosis. A descendant of French Huguenot forebears in the male line, he was married twice. His first marriage produced one daughter and a son and his second three sons, one of whom is the author's father. Dr. Guyon spent the bulk of his professional life in Montpelier, Idaho. He was widely known as a conservative practitioner, a humanitarian to the core, and an enviable citizen.
