Reseña del libro "The CIA In Xinjiang, Part One: One Agent's Dubious Undertakings in Western China (en Inglés)"
"The CIA in Xinjiang," Part One, is a fictitious account of agent Carter Ian Ames. It begins with his job search in the last year of college. On a lark, he applies to the CIA, is accepted and begins training. At the same time, his bosses begin laying the groundwork for his cover as an English teacher, so he can get a job in a not official cover capacity as there are no American consulates or other diplomatic posts in Xinjiang. From there, agent Ames continues his CIA training, takes a course in how to teach English, takes a one week trip to China seeking employment and meets with his future boss who works out of the Chengdu consulate. In that initial meeting, his future boss lays out what is at stake: limiting China's access to resources, creating tension in western China, so China cannot focus all its attention on Taiwan and resources in the South and East China Sea among other areas. In a manner of speaking, his boss tells him he will be part of a second front in a soft war against China.Part one of the book ends with agent Ames getting a job in Xinjiang, being given instructions about how to meet up again with his boss, and finding out about a Han and a Uyghur asset that he will deal with in Xinjiang.
