Divided into three sections, the book delves into the relationship among Brockhurst's paintings of his two wives, his portraits of society men and women, and his artistic influences, which included Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood painters. Ray also discusses how Brockhurst fit into the modern art scene at the time, including the world of Hollywood glamour photography.
