After five years, he escapes and boards The World Star at Southampton, which is leaving on its world cruise, along with his horde of money, bonds and diamonds collected over the years. He hopes this is the best way to escape detection. He meets various people, including thugs, killers and con men on his way around the world and has adventures in numerous countries. He meets Elizabeth who is extremely wealthy in her own right. He is chased by two Scotland Yard detectives and finally caught, but manages to escape. He saves the life of one of the detectives and this act changes his and Elizabeth's life forever.
